When seeking an “outside-the-box” artist, music enthusiasts need look no further than Kingston, Jamaica-native recording artist David Marvin Andre Kerr, better known by his stage name Davo. Groomed behind the scenes as a talented artist, Davo has penned and produced numerous records for today’s biggest names in the game, including Tory Lanez, Rick Ross, Fabolous, and more. Stepping out as a solo act and establishing his own unique and original sound, he secured a featured artist slot on Tory Lanez’s track. “Connection,” alongside Fabolous and Paloma Ford from the Memories Don’t Die album. Describing his music as a beautifully dark, trippy twisted fantasy, Davo’s sound offers a psychedelic experience, leaving listeners with a sense of peace and a vibe that takes them on a journey of discovery.

Relocating with his family to Miami significantly influenced Davo’s style. Musically, he draws inspiration from a diverse range of artists, including Snoop Dogg, Michael Jackson, Kaskade, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Vybz Kartel, Wayne Marshall, and Bounty Killer, which is evident in his fusion of hip-hop, rock & roll, and ‘80s pop sound. It didn’t take long for Davo to catch the attention of Miami heavyweight and Grammy Award nominated artist Tory Lanez, leading to collaborations on several tracks, including “Taken” and “Super Freak” featuring Rick Ross.

Davo’s journey as a solo artist gained momentum with collaborations on a joint mixtape “Rollin Gees” with multiple artists, including Conceited from MTV’s hit show Wild ’n Out. His artist credentials include joining G-Eazy’s These Things Happen Tour in 2014, touring with his father and brothers on a multi-city U.S. tour, followed by opening for Tory Lanez’s Memories Don’t Die U.S. Tour in 2018. In 2019, he crossed the pond for Drake’s Assassination Vacation Tour and concluded the year on Chris Brown’s Indigo Tour, coinciding with the release of “Pull Up” featuring Tory Lanez.

It comes as no surprise that Davo’s musical lineage traces back to Bob Marley; he inherited his passion for music from his father, Junior Marvin, the lead guitarist for Bob Marley and the Wailers, who also served as the lead singer following Marley’s passing. Davo’s musical journey began in childhood with the Nyabinghi drum, later mastering the guitar in high school while honing his singing skills. With a home studio and brothers equally drawn to the art, he crafted his first song in high school. He owes his poise and stage presence to his mother, Debra Kerr, a former Miss Jamaica and top model.

In early November 2022, the singer, rapper, and instrumentalist landed his debut acting role in the Bob Marley biopic “One Love.” Released on February 14, 2024, “One Love” features Davo portraying his father, Junior Marvin who was dubbed by Bob Marley as the “young Jimi Hendrix of London.” Davo is poised to make waves in the film industry.

In the first quarter of this year Davo will release his new single, “On the Run,” with its music video directed and edited by One Umbrella CEO Tory Lanez. The follow-up release, “Been Through It All,” will feature Lanez. Anticipation surrounds his debut album, entitled L.X.D Purple Heart, showcasing Davo’s versatility and slated for a mid-2024 release. This fall, audiences can expect a pop/rock project titled Rockstar Dreams, a collaboration with his cousin Young Justo. After years of honing his craft, success is imminent for Davo. As a multi-instrumentalist and talented lyricist, singer, and actor, the ingredients for his ascension in the entertainment industry are evident.
